How do I begin?

To start:

  • Email your letter of interest to perfectpairing@ameripairs.com; your recruiting specialist with help you with the application process

  • Our team will screen and personally meet with potential families to ensure they are appropriate to host, with the right accommodations for your comfort and safety

  • We will verify your skills, education, childcare experience, driving history, background and eligibility to work in the United States, so the family can hire you with confidence

  • We will learn all about you and what would be most important to you in a host family, to ensure a good match

  • Your assigned mentor will explain the internship in more detail

  • If you meet all of our program requirements, you will be eligible to match with one of our host families, you will begin the matching process

Matching

We will introduce you to potential host families using a proprietary process to ensure compatibility. Our external partners at Au Paradise LLC will help ensure it's an amazing match! We will provide you opportunities to meet your host family multiple times on video calls and get to know them before committing to your match. Because nothing is more important than the safety of our program participants, we are very selective with which families and childcare providers are admitted into our program. We will put you in contact with their current and/or former live-in childcare provider during the matching process. You will meet each member of the household and you will be given a virtual tour of your living accommodations. Next, we will help you and your host family with your employment agreement for your term to establish your compensation, benefits included (e.g. paid time off), and appropriate deductions to cover your living expenses.

What else is important to know?

This is a drug-free program. In addition to the various checks conducted to assess your background, candidates must be willing and able to pass a drug screening at a third party testing site.

There are no costs for the Ameripair™ to join our program. The application process is extensive and we know our candidates will be very invested. Our corporate team will work with you to arrange your travel, at no cost to you. Our families are throughout the USA!

Upon arrival, your host parents and host kids will welcome you as part of their family, show you around the area, and get you onboarded to officially start! Although it’s a lot of fun, it’s also hard work! In addition to providing an engaging and enriching childcare experience, your duties will include helping with homework, driving the children, meal preparation, childcare related chores (laundry, tidying etc.) and contributing to the household as a considerate roommate. You’ll have monthly obligations for your internship as well, which your host family will also be supporting. The internship will be about two hours per month in addition to your quick weekly check-ins with your APM.  Your internship will be tailored based on your individual goals and you will be mentored and given help with career mapping.  At the end of your program, you will have an amazing résumé.

You'll also have opportunities in your free time to immerse yourself in the local culture, meet new people, go sightseeing and become part of the community. You'll be connected to others on a similar journey in the area of your host family, some are from all over the world, further facilitating the cultural experience. This is a great opportunity for young adults!

Room and board will be covered as part of your compensation. You are guaranteed to have your own private room and often you'll have access to a vehicle for personal use. Some of your education and all of your basic living expenses are paid for by your host family. During your program year, you won't have to worry about rent, groceries, cell/data plans, car insurance, utilities, car maintenance, or commuting costs. Host families cover so much, allowing any monetary compensation to be used for your true discretionary purposes like entertainment, travel, education, or individual savings goals. Payment will vary depending on the state. Your host family will be required to pay you at least minimum wage with a reasonable deduction for room and board, in line with the the Fair Labor and Standards Act (FLSA) as well as applicable state laws. Before you finalize your match, you and your host family will discuss your weekly payment and the amount will be agreed upon in writing.

Our host families are required to $700 per year for you to further your education, during your contract year. Your host family will be happy help you get set up at a nearby college or your preferred accredited online school, ensuring your classes will not interfere with your work schedule.

At the end of your 12 month contract, you will be given a certificate of completion, reference letter, and complimentary résumé services.

Host families are encouraged to provide performance-based bonuses throughout the year. Additionally, after successful completion of your contract, you will receive a $500 bonus as a thank-you from Ameripair LLC.  If you successfully complete a second year and all program requirements with the same host family will receive a $2,500 thank-you bonus from Ameripair™.
